Character Name: Dominik Vasilescu Country: România Gender: Male Age: 18 Camp guide or teen?: Teenager
Appearance: Dominik is a rather average looking male in comparison to most people. He only stands about 174 centimeters tall, making him far from the shortest guy around, but he isn't exactly the tallest either. While his build is far from athletic, he isn't weak and does have some muscle on him even if it isn't a defining feature on his body. His skin is fair, though he really is lacking any sort of a tan.
Most of Dominik's defining features unique to himself are features above the shoulder. Rather than very dark hair like the rest of his family has, he somehow was born with a much lighter shade of hair. It is very light brown, almost teetering on the edge be being dirty blonde if in the correct light. Though his hair is generally straight, but shaggy, it does have some parts near his ears and towards the back of his head that don't like to stay neatly with the rest of his hair. His hair is parted on the right side of his head, and he tends to sweep the bangs off towards the left side of his head. Dominik's eyes are brown, though an interesting shade. Some would swear they were more red than brown... One other peculiar feature of his can only be seen when he is smiling. Once he lost his baby teeth when he was younger, his canine teeth grew back looking rather pointy. It caused him to get poked fun at, but he plays along with it rather than thinking anything bad of it...though he really doesn't enjoy being called that.
As far as clothing goes, Dominik's sense of fashion in the eyes of others normally has one of two reactions. Either they really appreciate it for being unique, or they think he is even more odd than one would guess by a simple conversation. He tends to like older, more vintage looking clothing. Pieces of clothing that look like they are old catch his eye. At the same time, he is very conscious about his outward self appearance so he makes sure that no matter what he is wearing, he looks well dressed. One of his favorite accessories is unique looking hats. For some reason, he loves small ones. Generally, if he can't wear that he will wear little ribbons on his hair. One thing he always wears is a small earring in his left ear.
Personality: To people that he likes, Dominik is a really friendly guy. He certainly has his own sense of the word "friendly", but it doesn't differentiate too much from the norm. His sense of humor can be a bit odd for normal people who are not used to being around him. Still, he is rather easy to get along with most of the time. Though he might outwardly try to be friendly, he can have a sharp tongue and have quite the temper over silly things. If he doesn't like someone, he will have quite the hard time keeping it in. Whether he likes someone or dislikes them, Dominik has a large mischievous streak in him. He will use others for the expense of a laugh. Despite this, he is a decent guy who prefers keeping to himself.
One word that nearly everyone who meets him for long enough could decide on that describes Dominik's personality is eccentric. To the average person, his interests and quirks are way too different and creepy to be what they would consider normal. The thing is though, he could care less. He has a huge fascination with magic that tends to throw people off. To most the kind he enjoys would be considered the darker, black magic, but a real magic lover knows not to differentiate between types. The occult side of things fascinates him greatly. Fortune telling is something that he also enjoys and at times prides himself in. Mixed with his love of folklore, he can be real confusing to speak with if you don't know what he is going on about. Dominik often uses these methods to attempt to solve his problems in life.
In spite of all this, his way of thinking tends to be very traditional. He sticks to all the old traditions he learned in life and follows them. To him, they are pretty important. He has learned to recite wisdom from older women who he sees to be wise. He truly believes that their saying and practices can help everyone and are true. When in a stressful situation, he has been known to try to help with such things. If one couldn't guess from reading all that, he is very superstitious.
Dominik is horrible with saving money, though people wouldn't guess. Even when he doesn't have a lot, he likes to try to put on the facade that he has more than he actually does. He will buy things like a fancy phone or something of the sort to show it. Appearance can be important to him. As one could guess from little things like that, he can be rather dishonest at times which can lead to a bad reputation with some. He just finds hard to trust people and can be very suspicious of them, especially to people of high authority. One personality point is that he can manipulate people rather well if need be. Overall, he tries hard but finds it hard to succeed half the time.
One normally wouldn't guess based on his appearance, but he is actually a pretty romantic guy. Don't let that food you though, he can be rather tough and can back up any threats he makes. Even if he cannot, he is very persistent.

History: So far in life, it hasn't exactly been the perfect picture of anything exciting. Dominik was born the first day of December in the capital of Romania, Bucharest. He was born into a family consisting of his mother, father, and an older brother. His family was also rather close to his grandparents on his father's side of the family even if they lived a ways away. Even if he had an older brother, he was much older than Dominik himself. His early childhood didn't have much excitement. It was full of daycares while his mother and father worked. His father had the job with the most pay, but both were needed in order for them to keep stable.
That is why when Dominik's father lost his job, it was a pretty big blow to the small family. They tried to make it on their own to support themselves, and even after another job was found to replace the old one, it wasn't enough. The family was forced to move to a new city in order to move in with Dominik's grandparents. They were kind enough to open up their home, but not all of them appreciated it. His brother wasn't too keen on moving, and constantly reminded everyone in the home about it. The boy was pretty rebellious both at home and school. He was always causing problems, adding stress to an already stressful situation.
His brother moved out as soon as he could to go back to Bucharest, despite the wishes of his parents. It caused lots of different feelings to be thrown around between all of them. All the while, Dominik's parents were trying to get enough money to get a new home of their own and not be a burden on his grandparents. This caused them to not be home a lot, leaving Dominik either alone or with his grandparents half the time. As he grew up, he missed them a lot and began gaining interest in many of the things that helped him grow into the rather eccentric person he is known to be today. It didn't help that when his parents saw him, they were always trying to keep him close and focus on school so he wouldn't turn out to be "bad" like his brother had. Dominik hated it. Admittedly, he had done a few things he was ashamed of while trying to get their attention. These things hadn't helped.
In spite of what people might have thought, he wasn't a bad kid. He just got a little mixed up in things sometimes and had a strange reputation that followed him. When he was old enough to work a small job on his own, it was nice to be able to have a little extra money and get away from things for a while. Things were still stressful in the home even as he got older.
He never would have expected himself in a strange little came all the way in America. The thing was, his grandmother had sensed how all the stress was taking a toll on Dominik. Wanting to find a solution for her grandson, she had thought she had found the perfect thing when she saw an advertisement for the camp. With her convincing to her husband, the two paid for his trip in hopes for him to make some new friends and get away from everything for a bit.
Journal Sample:
Journal,
I am quite relieved to be here, even if everything is very different from back home. Some of the people here are strange. I know I am supposed to be relaxing, but it is hard when half the people act like they will rob me in my sleep. Some of the nights I haven't been sleeping. It is actually easy to sneak out of here. Do you think anyone else would be up for taking a trip into the forest one night with me? I swear I saw something looking back at me earlier...
Anyways, I probably shouldn't be talking about these things in case this is like school where they collect journals. That would probably ruin any chances of having fun around here that isn't scheduled by whoever runs this place. I would still do it anyways though. It is not like they can send me home. Grandmother and grandfather already gave them money.

Roleplay Sample:
It was honestly a very rare occassion for other nations to visit his country without calling first. Though he might have not gotten along with some of them, they at least seemed to enjoy the company of another nation; especially one who was an expert in the surrounding area and language. Yes, there were rare occasions where someone wanted to surprise him. There were also more sinister types of unannounced visits, but it was best not to dwell on those.
Still, of all the people living in the country of Romania, and all the surrounding nations that he could have encountered sitting on a bench, it certainly wasn't this guy. Romania was caught up in his own thoughts, and wouldn't have really noticed the other nation in passing if it wasn't for that silly looking chunk of hair that always separated itself into a unique curl on his head. It looked as if Romano hadn't spotted the other nation yet in the crowd. Judging by rather angry and confused expression in his face, Romania wasn't sure if this was a good or bad thing. Not that he didn't like the guy, but he was always a bit difficult to handle, especially when in a bad mood.
No matter what emotions Romano was feeling on that bench, he needed to know what he was up to. Romania made his way over to the bench, giving a wave as he spoken when he was sure that he was within hearing range. "Bună, Romano!" He waited until he was sure that he had caught the other male's attention by standing in front of him before continuing. "What brings you over here to my place? I didn't know you were the tourist type of guy." All the while, he tried to peek at what exactly he might be looking for on the map. Though he was trying to be nonchalant about it, it was pretty obvious what he was doing and the small grin on his face wasn't helping the situation any.

This is my first time in years trying to play someone different, so please be gentle! I know that my personality section is super jumpy but I hope to smooth it out in future roleplays. Anything else? When I was little I had lots of fishies. They always died the next day. It made me sad, even my special one did. One fish even jumped out out of the tank and committed suicide. It was sad. Sad end. When I was older I had a fishie named Apollo Shuu Justice. I named him after that nifty lawyer. My fishie wasn't a laywer though no matter how much he wanted to be.
