Character Name:
Kateryna Braginskaya
Country:
Ukraine
Gender:
Female
Age:
23
Camp guide or teen?:
Camp Guide!
Appearance:
Silvery-Blond hair, shaping to and framing her face; a headband to keep the fringe back. Soft pastel pink skin, barely tanned from the sun, or even burned. Wide, sparkling eyes an icy blue, which tend which shimmer with teardrops a little too often. A tiny nose, unusual for a Ukrainian, sitting in the middle of her face, and just below that, plump pink lips which are often seen stretched in a wide smile. Her cheeks, a rosy pink most of the time, are seen too often with tears staining them.
There are also her far larger than average breasts on her chest, which usually capture a person's attention before everything previously mentioned. She has a lot of problems with them; they get in the way, they stop her clothes from fitting, they cause her such problematic back pains, so much that she finds it difficult to simply bend over to pick something up. Once you can pull your eyes away from her large mammaries, you might realises that yes, there is actually a woman attached to them.
Her dresses tend to be brightly coloured, like bright blue or white. As Kateryna is a rather big boned woman (With wide hips and broad shoulders) she wears clothes which emphasises smaller parts of the body, which makes her feel more feminine. Accessories you’ll see her with are her various different rings which she adores wearing. They’re cheap, but they’re pretty. She also has a hip-bag of medical supplies - A first aid kit – which she won’t leave home without, because you never know when someone’s going to injure themselves!
Personality:
Cheerful, pleasant and always happy to help are Kateryna's default traits. She'll be constantly smiling at people, offering a 'Hello' as she passes them, coupled with a small wave. However, she's very easily upset, mainly at herself, for doing something wrong, generally being a bother to people, happy endings to books, sad endings to books, falling over, watching animals get hurt, watching people get hurt, sometimes even just for the sake of having a good cry. That's the reason she keeps a handkerchief on her at all times. To her, it’s become second nature to start sobbing at something.
At the first sign of an emergency, Kateryna will race to find out what's going on and find out if she can help, as she tends to worry too much. It's not necessarily a bad thing, but she has been known to annoy people from time to time with her constant fretting. Still, it's sweet. Kateryna doesn't ever seem to complain about her problems, either. She will occasionally mention her aching back in case she needs to sit down, but people have been very understanding about that.
Likes:
Candy and other sweet foods, such as cakes.
Coffee, to give her the boost she needs in the morning.
Adorable little animals! She just can’t resist how cute they are!
Snow. Not too heavy, just enough to coat the pathways in a light dusting. It makes everywhere look nice!
Her darling Ivan and her sweet little Nattie.
The sound of laughter. Not cruel laughter, sweet laughter!
Pretty things. Flowers, dresses, and anything else which is aesthetically pleasing.
Dislikes:
Anyone getting hurt
Things being too expensive
Being unable to sleep (It has happened to her on more than one occasion unfortunately).
Sunburn. Hard to avoid for someone with her complexion.
Watching others cry (Of course, she does all the crying for them).
Falling ill. Because no one likes snotty noses.
Fears:
Losing any of her family. (In any sense; Kidnapping, death, they hate her for whatever reason. You get the picture)
Large, fierce animals which can do harm.
Horror Movies. She saw one and had nightmares for a week.
Getting lost.
History:
Kateryna’s mother went on holiday to Ukraine when she was five months pregnant. However, she stayed for so long that by the time she wanted to return home, she was too far pregnant to be allowed to travel by plane. So, Kateryna was born in Kiev. She was taken back to Russia when she was old enough, and grew up learning Russian, Ukrainian and a little English, along with her two siblings, her sister Natalia and her brother Ivan. She lived a relatively normal life with stern parents. She loved them a lot, but they did seem to have slight drinking and gambling problems; both resulting in a severe lack of money.
At the age of 16, her family, in an attempt to make a new start and earn more money, moved to the United States of America. With some effort, they got over the gambling problem they had. Though, the drinking, not so much. Kateryna, meanwhile, met a sweet boy who had taken an interest in her. They dated for a total of three years, but when Kateryna had turned 19, they broke up. However, they didn’t lose contact because a couple of months after the breakup, Kateryna had called the boy up to tell him that she thought she might be pregnant with his child. After agreeing to go to the doctor’s to check out if her symptoms were the result of pregnancy, she was informed by the doctor that she was having a hysterical pregnancy and was, in fact, infertile.
This must have been the most shocking news Kateryna had received in her life so far, because all hopes of having her own family fell apart in front of her eyes. She couldn’t believe it at first; how can she not have children?! It happened to people on TV, not her! But realisation kicked in eventually, and Kateryna didn’t know what to do. She cried, she ranted, she spent a lot of her time cuddling people, but nothing helped her get over it. She spent some months taking medical training, as a suggestion from her parents as well as a way to get her mind off things. However, it was always lurking in the back of her mind, making her feel bitter with the world.
Until, that was, the answer presented itself to her, in the form of a leaflet. The leaflet in question was being handed out to people on the street, and Kateryna had decided to pick one up. She had just turned 23, and was trying to get her life on track. And the first place to start was with a job! Just the answer the leaflet had provided! However, it wasn’t that the leaflet was offering a job, it was that it was providing a job which involved looking after a number of children of many different ages. Kateryna’s maternal side suddenly kicked into gear and she’d gone straight there to apply. She’d been accepted and that brings us to now; with Kateryna Braginskaya as the camp’s newest addition to their staff, who will work in first aid.

Entry 1:
I’ve just arrived. How surreal! Everywhere looks lovely and the people are nice here! I have told myself to always write and speak and do everything in English. I’m not allowed to switch back to Russian, otherwise it’d make communication very difficult. Right now I have my Russian to English book in front of me, just so that I can double check I’ve got everything right.
Now, I’m very excited to begin work. First order of business, collect my first aid kit. I’m to have it with me wherever I go in case someone hurts themself! I remember medical training, I’ll be able to manage, but I do have books to look things up in case I don’t know what to do in a situation (Which I hope will be a rare situation!).
After I’ve gotten my first aid kit, I need to unpack. I have been delaying unpacking for a while now because I don’t know where my belongings go! This place is very unfamiliar, that’ll have to change quickly as I get used to it all, which I can’t wait for. I need to meet people too; I’ve only met a couple of the staff. The one who did a quick interview with me and someone who I spoke to when I got here, who showed me where I’ll be staying. The rest of the day is going to be so exciting!
(( >.> This bit actually made no sense to me. But oh well ))

There was a nice woodchip path, Kateryna had noticed, which she could follow. She was on her way, you see, to her new job as a camp guide! Her stomach was doing cartwheels out of nerves, but her pace was steady and her face was set in a sweet smile. It wasn’t her first job; she’d worked before, in the local library, and a Spanish café, and once she’d tried to stock shelves at a supermarket. But this was so… so different. It had lots of people she had to interact with, and while Kateryna didn’t think she’d have a problem with that, it wasn’t what she was used to, she was sure she’d slip up somewhere! But then again, she’d be helping people- she was effectively a nurse and might even get a uniform and--
Kateryna’s thoughts were brought to a halt. She had arrived at her destination. Now where was she meant to go? Her luggage was starting to get heavy and her back was aching. She needed to lie down, maybe have a nice cup of tea and read a book.
(( … *Ran out of things to say here, I hope it’s okay…* ))
