Character Name: Honda, Kiku
Country: Japan
Gender:
Age: 16
Camp guide or teen?: Teen
Appearance:
Japan is known for there residents being of the smaller stature. Kiku is an example of this. For a boy his age, he's noticeably small. Petite, even. His skin is very pale, looking as if he doesn't leave his room often- which is true. His dark hair and eyes stand out against such light skin almost dramatically. His black hair frames his face and always seems to be in top condition, ending just above his chin amd in the case of his bangs, just above his eyes. He has very dark brown irises that, when in natural lighting, seem much lighter.
Personality:
Kiku is prominently reserved. He is the type who would rather be in the background during events to be left alone with his thoughts. He mostly does this because he's blunt and he's learned that it's not always a good thing. So, he keeps all of his actual opinions bottled up inside his mind and gives one worded answers often. He's quite shy, and self conscious. He has a fear of offending peopleand getting punchedbecause of something he'd say so he thinks before he talks and thinks before he acts, usually.
He is very hesitant to get to know someone new (with the exception of it being someone online for some reason) and tends to conceal himself in small spaces in the dark. And then proceed to stare into the screen of a video game system for long periods of time. Kiku references his more fictional hobbies on a regular basis, he's quite a fanboy, and relates life events to fictional ones. Despite this, he's actually mature for his age.
Kiku can take care of himself and others without problems given he has everything necessary. He likes to cook and clean and make sure everything is nice and organized. If something ruins something he's organized or even his thought process, he get's mad yet for some reason it never seems to show on his face. He musters small smiles or grimaces, but rarely are any of his expression vivid. Once he starts to actually get to know someone, though, he's more prone to talking about himself and the things he likes. Kiku loves his culture and teaching others about it, and in turn he likes learning about other people's cultures as well.

History:
(So- a note would be to the future other Asian countries, that if you were planning something entirely different just let me know so I can change accordingly please! ;w; )
Kiku was born in Japan, of course. He loved his parents, and spending time with them. They were a working class couple for the same company, so there were times when he would be alone for a few hours. He never complained, though, and because of it he became self efficient. He could cook and clean up after himself. He would get his school work done or he would play some games to mind his time until his parents got home.
Though one day, they didn't come home. Kiku at first thought maybe they were out late picking up a birthday present for him, but as the hours passed he realized his parents would have called if it they were delayed so something bad must have happened. It was a prank, Kiku thought, they'd make him so scared before coming home and they'd him with everything he wanted for his birthday and more. He spent hours playing a game on different hand held game systems by the door until a knock finally sounded. Only, it wasn't his parents. A close family friend was there with two police officers saying hat his parents had died in a car accident.
Kiku didn't go into a frenzy over the news, rather he stayed quiet and only cried upon receiving the news and at the funeral. Atleast, when he was around other people he was mostly stoic. He ended up living with the family friend's relatives, Wang Yao and his family, as the woman was traveling alot for her job. Kiku liked the Chinese man, at first, but as he grew up the affection from the other man became a bit too suffocating. Often they were referred to as brothers, and Kiku would either deny or ignore it. He just felt embarrassed to refer to the other like. But Wang would be one of the few people he felt comfortable around with, and despite being younger and smaller, Kiku always felt some form of needing to protect the other. With his other adoptive siblings, Kiku felt this way, actually.Even Yong Soo despite seeming to completely detest him.
Though of course Wang, being the caring sort he is, figured if he was going to a summer camp in America, then the rest of them were. Kiku refused. A camp meant he would be forced away from electronic devices simply to enjoy nature and get some fresh air. Then of course, he warmed up to the idea. If it boasted having people from all over the world, then surely it had to be interesting, right? So Kiku packed most everything he would need and more. Half of his belongings being said electronic devices and manga. Maybe there would be others like himself and shared nerdiness would attract them together to form a friendship based on geek culture! That'd be great if it was the case but as soon as Kiku arrived he wanted nothing more than to find a secret room no one used and make it into his hiding place full of everything he could survive off of until he would go back home.
Journal Sample:
Good morning, journal-kun! ヾ(^∇^)
Today, I woke up feeling rather refreshed. Like everything would go the way I wanted! It was empowering! O(≧∇≦)O And so I got out of bed and showered, but that is when things seemed to be going down hill... I felt like I was being watched! So I looked around (゚Д゚≡゚Д゚) many times but I couldn't see anyone! It was so strange- especially since I'm usually the first to rise here...
So then I made myself tea once I was dressed and it made me feel good again! Back to that feeling today would be good! But once again something terrible happened. Something horrible that should happen to no man. MY NINTENDO DS WAS MISSING! I then had to leave my tea and go through my entire luggage until I heard the sounds of a Pokemon battle initiating just outside the cabin. o(▼皿▼メ;)o WHO THE HELL WOULD TAKE MY PRECIOUS DS WITHOUT ASKING?! I was seriously ready to break off a tree branch and go banana nut muffin crazy on them!
B-But then I realized I would get into alot of trouble if I did that so I just kindly asked the kid if he could finish and give it back to me. He did. And now all is well in the world now that me and my precious Pokemon have been reunited.
I hope breakfast is good today...
Until later, goodbye journal-kun. (○゚ε゚○)ノ - Honda-sama

"A-Ano..." Kiku muttered, hesitant to raise his hand any higher than his shoulder. The camp guide turned to him and sent him an intimidating glare. He stopped, promptly grabbed the handle to his luggage once more and shook his head. "N-Nothing... excuse me... may I go to my room now, sir?" The guide starred at him and nodded, passing him a slip of paper with his cabin number on it. Kiku grabbed it and bowed, before turning and walking down the trail.
He looked around, and squinted every time the sun peeked through the trees. Admittedly, it was beautiful. Like a setting in a video game, even. An effort would be made to photograph the entire area for sure. Perhaps even bring out the brush and ink sets he brought from home. Drawing backgrounds was essential for future mangakas or video game artists, of course! "Oh these bags are getting a bit heavy..." He mumbled, glancing at each cabin number upon entering the lodging area. One bag on his shoulder was for his electronics alone. On the other, all of his books. The bag resting on his suitcase and the suitcase itself had all the daily essentials and then some.
So, camp didn't sound like the best thing. Kiku was against the idea wholeheartedly at first, going as far as to lock himself in his room for three days until he ran out of crackers and carbonated water to live off of. But after much thought, he agreed. America wasn't bad, right? He'd always want to go there anyways. Most everyone in his small circle of friends have visited the country before and said it was amazing. And Kiku didn't learn English for nothing after all.
"Ah, it seems I've arrived in one piece..." The Japanese boy said to himself, looking from the paper in hand to the number hanging on the door in front of him. He took a deep breath, looked around, and reached to open the door. He poked his head inside in, seeing that he was the first to arrive, and carefully set down his many bags on the first bed he saw. A bottom bunk, no need to worry about falling off to impending doom. "Just perfect." Kiku softly smiled to himself. He patted the mattress, and paused. Carefully, he leaned down and peered under the bed. A little dusty, but it looked clear of bugs or wild animals. Who knows how this place was cared for when not in use.
Kiku straightened his posture and quickly sat on his bed, opening all of his bags and a drawer beside the bed to make himself look occupied as soon as he heard the door open. "Oh a roommate! Hello! Where you from? What's your name? How are you? Can I have the top bunk?" The other seemed to be in high spirits and talk without a breath, making Kiku blink at him and stare.
"Ah, I'm... Kiku Honda," he paused to make sure he got the Western naming order right before continuing. "I am from Japan. You may take the top bed." He spoke quietly, if not a bit monotonously, and moved the bag off oh his lap and beside him to stand up and bow. "Pleased to meet you."
