Character Name: Alejandro Garcia
Country: Peru
Gender: Male
Age: 18
Camp guide or teen?: Teen
Appearance:
Alejandro tries to keep himself looking as normal as possible. His short, black hair is kept as neat and straight as he can get it, and even then it looks slightly unkempt. His bangs fall between his eyes and never seem to get in his way, even though it does look like they would. On the right side of his head, he has an interesting hair curl that never stays down, no matter how much Alejandro tries.
He is at an average height for his age: about five feet and seven inches tall. His weight is average as well. Almost everything regarding Alejandro’s appearance is completely normal in society. His eye color may be a bit odd, though. They are a kind of goldish color, usually not found in people with black hair.
Alejandro’s appearance may be mostly normal, but his choice in dress certainly is not. He loves to wear many different colors of clothing. His love of different colors had made him start wearing colorful hats and ponchos, even in very warm weather. Although, with hats, he will refuse to wear baseballs hats. He will only wear the hats from his country: Peru. “The ones with flaps over the ears.”
Other than hats and ponchos, Alejandro will wear solid colored shirts and pants along with brown shoes. In the summer he will always wear t-shirts, although all year he wears pants. He doesn’t even own a single pair of shorts.
Personality:
Alejandro overall is a very cheerful guy. In any situation, no matter how bad it is, he will find some way to be happy about it. He’s always smiling, laughing, and just plain happy all the time. Although, sometimes he’s a bit too happy. He doesn’t really know how to show sympathy for others in any way, and will at times say the wrong thing to those who need to be comforted.
Although Alejandro is eighteen years old, he acts much younger than that. He is extremely childish, and he has even been mistaken a few times for a fourteen year old. He has a tenancy to make lewd jokes every so often, and sometimes he doesn’t understand other people if they use a wide vocabulary. This can cause him to get a bit confused during a conversation depending on who he is talking to.
Alejandro is extremely boastful about everything he does. He will brag about almost anything he can think of. His house, his pets, his clothes – even if they are not very stylish all the time – and anything else that’s possible to brag about. This can get on a lot of people’s nerves, and Alejandro doesn’t understand this is one of the main reasons people don’t like hanging out with him.
Another trait that may go along with boastful is that Alejandro always thinks he can “save the day”. If someone’s having trouble with something, he always thinks he knows exactly what to do to help them. He may think this, but it is almost never true. In fact, he usually does the opposite and ends up making the situation worse. Either way, at least he’s trying to be a good person.
Always and always, Alejandro is hyper. He can be extremely tired, yet he will still jump around and laugh and act so hyper, until he just collapses from exhaustion. If anyone asks him if he’s tired, he just shoves the question off with an, “of course not!” even if he’s about to collapse. This is only because he hates to be that one person who drags down the group by tiring out.
Despite these traits, Alejandro can get extremely upset at times. If anything makes him angry, he really gets angry and will most likely stay angry for a very long time. Even if someone just slightly gets on his nerves, he will completely over react about it. He’s tried his best to try and control his anger, but he’s just plain horrible at it. This has also factored into why he doesn’t have very many friends.

History:
Alejandro was born in the town of Pisac, Peru. The town in extremely close to Machu Picchu, and Alejandro has many memories of visiting the ruins very often during his childhood. In that small town, he grew up like a normal child. He went to school, had a social life (though he had an extremely limited amount of friends), and all that good stuff.
When Alejandro was just going into high school, his parents suddenly decided to move to Lima. It was a split second decision, and Alejandro didn’t have very much time at all to say goodbye to his friends. He received a one day notice, then his whole family quickly packed up and left.
In Lima, Alejandro never met any good friends. At first, he hated not having any friends. He was used to hanging out with select people he knew very well. All through high school, he never met any really good friends. There was one senior who had tutored him in his freshman year, but he didn’t count. He was more of a teacher than a real friend.
His parents seemed to notice Alejandro was not having a very good time at his school (It took them long enough). So, they did a little research and found Camp Fox: a camp in the United States. His parents thought that a trip out of the country was a way for him to make new friends, and he might’ve even been keen on going to college there. So Alejandro was shipped off to the United States by his parents, to this weird foreign camp he knew almost nothing about.
Journal Sample:
Dear
Today at camp, I played football! Well, no one would play with me, so I just kicked some goals myself. It was fun, though! Then everyone went swimming, but still no one would play with me. But that's okay, because it was fun all by myself! Oh, and there was this one guy who made fun of my hat. I beat him up. That was fun too. So, pretty good day today!
Roleplay Sample:
(Taken from a superhero high school AU roleplay.)
Going to a school where no one knows each other sounds like a pretty good deal. Everyone’s new to each other and in the exact same boat as everyone else. Plus, it’s a great time to rewrite anything about a person that they don’t like. Alejandro Garcia thought it would be the perfect situation to be in. No one knew how dumb he was, or how lame, or even how much he lied in a simple conversation. It was the first time in his life that everything seemed to be going his way.
But sadly, he was wrong.
All morning, no one had spoken to him. No one said a simple “hi” to him. And when he tried to say hi to other people, they had stared at him and walked away without a word. By lunch, he hadn’t even had a conversation with anyone but the English teacher, and that was only because she wanted to talk to him about where he was from.
Clutching one of his text books to his chest, Alejandro walked slowly into the cafeteria and looked around. Everyone had another person with them, either at the tables or in the lunch line. Alejandro bit his lip. How come everyone else had such a great time making friends, and he couldn’t find a single person to talk to?
With a sigh, he dug through his pocket for the money he had grabbed for lunch. Not there. He checked the other pocket, panic growing slowly. Nothing. He blinked and frantically checked both pockets again, and when he was sure the money wasn’t in there he check his bag. It wasn’t there either. The money was just gone.
Alejandro was sure he had grabbed the ten dollars before he left for school that day, and he was almost positive he had put it in his pocket instead of his bag. But the money could not be found in either of those places. Alejandro couldn’t help but think someone had stolen it from him. Someone just wanted to make his day even worse than it already was. He growled quietly and slung his bag over his shoulder again, clutching the textbook tighter to his chest than it was before. He didn’t want to get stolen from twice in the same day.
As he walked around the cafeteria, he kept his eye out for any open tables. Not empty ones, but tables that were less crowded than the others. Maybe a table with one or two people sitting at it. Enough people to talk to, but not too many that it was awkward and embarrassing for Alejandro to sit there. But every table was either empty, full, or had too many people. It just wasn’t his day today.
He sighed deeply and plopped down at an empty table, throwing the textbook and his bag onto the table. He slouched over, hugged his bag close to him and laid his head on it. How could he have been so stupid! Who lets their lunch money get stolen on the first day of school? It was probably some jerk with some insane power that lets him pickpocket innocent freshmen. Alejandro hated that school.
Without food to eat or anyone to talk to, he only had one idea of what to do: read people’s minds. It was almost a pastime with him. It was very interesting what he could find out just by reading the foremost thoughts of people. Interesting, yet it can also have drawbacks. Sometimes, what the person is thinking isn’t very nice. Alejandro had learned this from when he was in eighth grade and read the minds of his classmates. They were not good things.
”Man, this food is disgusting!”
“So much homework, and it’s only lunch!”
“Who’s that kid sitting all there by himself? What’s his problem?”
Alejandro sighed deeply and hugged his bag tighter. Sure, it was just the first day, but he had no idea the first day would be that horrible.
